Valiant

1 Sam.16:18 Then answered one of the servants, and said, Behold, I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, that is cunning in playing, and a mighty valiant man, and a man of war, and prudent in matters, and a comely person, and the Lord is with him.

1 Sam.18:17 And Saul said to David, Behold my elder daughter Merab, her will I give thee to wife: only be thou valiant for me, and fight the Lord's battles. For Saul said, Let not mine hand be upon him, but let the hand of the Philistines be upon him.

Courage

1. The state or quality of mind or spirit that enables one to face danger, fear, or vicissitudes with self-possession, confidence, and resolution; bravery.

2. the power or quality of dealing with or facing danger, fear, pain, etc

3. the courage of one's convictions the confidence to act in accordance with one's beliefs

4. take one's courage in both hands to nerve oneself to perform an action

5. obsolete mind; disposition; spirit

Dt.3:28 But charge Joshua, and encourage him, and strengthen him: for he shall go over before this people, and he shall cause them to inherit the land which thou shalt see.

Dt.31:6-7 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. And Moses called unto Joshua, and said unto him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong and of a good courage: for thou must go with this people unto the land which the Lord hath sworn unto their fathers to give them; and thou shalt cause them to inherit it.

Jos.1:6-7 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them. Fear Not

Dt.1:21 Behold, the Lord thy God hath set the land before thee: go up and possess it, as the Lord God of thy fathers hath said unto thee; fear not, neither be discouraged.

Dt.3:22 Ye shall not fear them: for the Lord your God he shall fight for you.

Dt.20:3 And shall say unto them, Hear, O Israel, ye approach this day unto battle against your enemies: let not your hearts faint, fear not, and do not tremble, neither be ye terrified because of them;

Dt.31:6 Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the Lord thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. Be Not Dismayed

Dismay- to cause to lose courage or resolution (as because of alarm or fear) <must not let ourselves be dismayed by the task before us> sudden loss of courage or resolution from alarm or fear

to break down the courage of completely, as by sudden danger or trouble; dishearten thoroughly; daunt: sudden or complete loss of courage; utter disheartenment; perturb

Jos.1:0 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

1 Sam.17:11 When Saul and all Israel heard those words of the Philistine, they were dismayed, and greatly afraid.

2 Ki.19:26 Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as corn blasted before it be grown up.

Gird up the loins

Gird- to encircle or bind with a flexible band (as a belt) to make fast (as a sword by a belt or clothing with a cord) To surround.

Gird up the loins- To prepare (oneself) for action. To summon up one's inner resources in preparation for action.

Ex.12:11 And thus shall ye eat it; with your loins girded, your shoes on your feet, and your staff in your hand; and ye shall eat it in haste: it is the Lord's passover.

2 Sam.20:8 When they were at the great stone which is in Gibeon, Amasa went before them. And Joab's garment that he had put on was girded unto him, and upon it a girdle with a sword fastened upon his loins in the sheath thereof; and as he went forth it fell out.

1 Ki.18:46 And the hand of the Lord was on Elijah; and he girded up his loins, and ran before Ahab to the entrance of Jezreel.

2 Ki.1:8 And they answered him, He was an hairy man, and girt with a girdle of leather about his loins. And he said, It is Elijah the Tishbite.

2 Ki.4:29 Then he said to Gehazi, Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thine hand, and go thy way…

Job 12:18 He looseth the bond of kings, and girdeth their loins with a girdle.

Source of Strength

1 Sam.28:20 Then Saul fell straightway all along on the earth, and was sore afraid, because of the words of Samuel: and there was no strength in him; for he had eaten no bread all the day, nor all the night. V22 Now therefore, I pray thee, hearken thou also unto the voice of thine handmaid, and let me set a morsel of bread before thee; and eat, that thou mayest have strength, when thou goest on thy way.

2 Sam.22:33 God is my strength and power: and he maketh my way perfect. v40 For thou hast girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me hast thou subdued under me.

1 Ki.19:8 And he arose, and did eat and drink, and went in the strength of that meat forty days and forty nights unto Horeb the mount of God.

Psa.18:1-2 I will love thee, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. V32 It is God that girdeth me with strength, and maketh my way perfect. v39 For thou hast girded me with strength unto the battle: thou hast subdued under me those that rose up against me.

Psa.20:2 Send thee help from the sanctuary, and strengthen thee out of Zion; v6 Now know I that the Lord saveth his anointed; he will hear him from his holy heaven with the saving strength of his right hand.

Psa.27:1 The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? V14 Wait on the Lord: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the Lord.

V16 I will seek that which was lost, and bring again that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick: but I will destroy the fat and the strong; I will feed them with judgment.

Dan.10:8 Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength. V17-19 For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me. Lk.22:32 But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not: and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

Lk.22:43 And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.

Rev.3:2 Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. v8 I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.
